She’s My Sister is the Anti-Human Trafficking Ministry of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church. The ministry, which seeks to bring awareness to and assist in combating the horrific crime of human trafficking, is hosting its 3rd Annual Human Trafficking Awareness 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, October 7, 2017.
There are currently more than twenty-five adjudicated youth identified as victims of human trafficking who are being serviced through the Philadelphia Family Court under the leadership of The Honorable Judge Lori Dumas. These juvenile victims of human trafficking and child commercial sexual exploitation receive intensive, trauma informed, coordinated case management services from The Salvation Army. The youth also receive a variety of other critical assistance from court based professionals totally dedicated to their overall success.
Proceeds from the Walk/Run will be utilized to provide the necessary funding for the establishment of a safe trafficking-trauma informed long term therapeutic group home and restoration program for these youth. This Salvation Army Program will be utilized by the young women victims within our juvenile court system who are 18 - 21 years old and aging out of the children and youth system who need this awesome resource to assist them in moving from victims to survivors.
