Nike Structure 25: The Stability Initiative

by Lionel Brahim Brodie III, et al.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park Gazebo. August, 2023. The Nike Structure is THEE stability offering from The Swoosh. Before proceeding…..Happy Silver Anniversary! Runners throughout the multiverse have trusted the 25 editions of this franchise to provide us with the comprehensive support and stability necessary for short distances up to our long runs.

Entering the quantum realm that is fall race season, I’ll definitely add the Structure to my training arsenal. I prefer a plush midsole, and the 25 is loaded with more cushioning than previous models. Its wide forefoot and base produce the stability I covet, while the soft mesh upper and tongue provide breathability…..keeping the shoe light and comfortable. I have a 5K on deck in September and an 8K lined up for November. I’ll then phase into the multiverse of distance training/racing; the Structure will be advantageous for this mileage buildup.

If you have been following along with #MYPHILLYRUN Blog (MPR), you then know about the superheroes from Philadelphia’s Running Community who assembled to jam in the Nike InfinityRN 4. We asked this same collective to test–run the Structure 25 so when it hits our shelves and website today (wink wink), you’re ready to grab a pair and (prepare for a pun friends) hit the ground running. With the legendary FDR Gazebo, a ‘supportive structure’ (see what we did there?) as the backdrop, some of the Avengers return with their thoughts before we dive into the tech and specs:

Chris K – Original Propaganda Athletic Club – It’s like Philly. Locked in. No give. But there to give you it’s full support when needed.

Emilsem B – Nemesis Fitness – I love running shoes that give you the space for your feet to feel like the sneaker was built around your feet. To give you the support, stability, and comfort that you need. This is why I love the structure; it will give you the structure to run on any surface.

María P – T3 Philly and South Philly Striders – Sturdy and supportive, this shoe would be great for long, easy, or recovery runs.

    The Tech Talk

With stability where you need it, cushion where you want it, the Structure 25 supports you for long miles, short training runs and even a down–and–back before the day ends. It’s the stability you seek, loyal from the first tie–up, tried and trusted, with a midfoot system that’s fully supportive and more comfortable cushioning than before.

    Support: High
The more supportive the shoe, the more stability it can give to your natural stride. A combination of tuned support and intentionally placed cushioning helps you feel secure with every step. The Structure 25 is the most stable shoe in Nike Running. Updated foam midsole works with wider midfoot support and an increased rocker to give you a more stable platform underfoot and smoother transitions from heel to toe.

    Cushioning: High
The more cushioning that you have underfoot, the softer and more comfortable your running experience can be. Cushioning helps soften impact as your feet hit the ground. New and improved foam on the midsole provides a soft and comfortable feel as you log your miles. High foam stacks help keep you comfortable. Shaped like a rocker, the foam provides support for the 3 phases of a runner's stride. It offers flexibility when your foot rises off the ground, a smooth ride when your foot is moving forward and cushioning at ground contact.

    Responsiveness: Minimum
The more responsive the shoe, the more energy return you can get back with each step. Whether you want to run a little bit faster or with a little less effort, responsive shoes help give you slightly more spring in your step to get more out of your run. A Zoom Air unit in the forefoot offers responsive cushioning. Every step helps create energy return to help drive you forward with a springy, responsive sensation.

    Accommodating Fit
The accommodating forefoot allows you plenty of space to spread out your toes. The wider forefoot complements a wider base and smooth ride. Added structure and containment around the heel provides a more supportive fit.

What's New About the Structure 25?
We added even more foam than our previous Structures, with better support and comfort than its predecessor as well. The new and improved foam underfoot helps give you support.

    More Benefits
    •    We softened the materials on the inside of the heel, collar, and tongue, so that any part of the shoe that’s touching your ankle feels smooth and comfortable.
    •    Single–layer mesh provides breathability and durability.
    •    Durable rubber sole has grooves in the forefoot to create flexibility, and vertical grooves down the side help create stability.
