Are you running the 2018 Philadelphia Marathon or Half Marathon? Whether it’s your first race or you’re an experienced half or full marathoner, the Philadelphia Runner Pace Team will be at the Philadelphia Marathon and Half Marathon to help you achieve your goal. We put together answers to some of the frequently asked questions about the Pace Teams:
HOW DO I SIGN UP TO RUN WITH A PACER?
There is no need to sign up to run with a pace team, simply line up with the pacers at the start or hop in at any time during the race.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RUN WITH A PACE TEAM?
The pace teams are FREE for all registered runners to join and run with.
WHAT PACE TEAMS WILL THERE BE AT THE 2018 PHILADELPHIA MARATHON?
Marathon Pace Groups: 3:00, 3:10, 3:20, 3:30, 3:40, 3:50, 4:00, 4:10, 4:20, 4:30, 4:40, 5:00
WHAT PACE TEAMS WILL THERE BE AT THE 2018 PHILADELPHIA HALF MARATHON?
Half Marathon Pace Groups: 1:30, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30
WHAT IS THE PACE TEAM STRATEGY?
The pace teams will be holding an even, steady pace throughout the marathon. They will make appropriate adjustments for elevation changes (Philly is pretty flat!) and to deal with course crowding.
WHAT DOES THE PACER DO AT HYDRATION STATIONS?
Pacers will usually slow down or walk through the hydration stations on the course and will communicate what they are doing to the group.
WHERE CAN I FIND MY PACER AND PACE TEAM ON RACE MORNING?
Pacers will line up in their assigned corrals approximately 30 minutes before the start of the race. They will be holding signs that indicate their goal (ex: 4:00, 4:10, etc.).
DO I HAVE TO STAY WITH THE PACE TEAM FOR THE WHOLE RACE?
Absolutely not! Feel free to start and leave the pace team at any point during the race.
