Shoe Review: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18

By Vic A.

Webster's Dictionary defines Adrenaline as an "increase in rates of blood circulation, breathing and preparing muscles for exertion." According to Brooks, the definition of Adrenaline is the perfect balance of soft cushion and support. The new Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 was released in October 2017 and I recently had the opportunity to give it a test run but first let's go over some basic info.

Shoe Specs:

  • Weight: 10 oz. (Men's) | 8.6 oz. (Women's)
  • Drop: 12mm
  • Mid Level Cushioning
  • Stability

The new Adrenaline offers the same level of support as previous versions. A nice change this time around is the softer cushioning and increased flexibility. The seamless feeling transitions to a really smooth feel. The top front mesh design of the new Adrenaline gives it much more sleek look and less busy. Those of you Adrenaline junkies coming out of the 17 and into the 18 will most likely consider the new look a complete makeover. That's neither good or bad, just matter of an opinion.

Back to my test run, I found the Adrenaline 18 a little less aggressive on the heel landing, a credit to the softer cushioning. The wider toe box gives your feet plenty of room - it also comes in wider sizes for those who need extra space. The lighter design makes for an easy and comfortable take off. The return you get from the landing gives you a nice protected feel from the shock of the road. It's time to adrenalize your winter runs!
