Product Review: Aftershokz Trekz Titanium Headphones

By Joe DiSalvo

Welcome to the future of running headphones.

The Aftershokz Trekz Titanium are some of the newest technology in running electronics. These headphones work off what is called “bone conduction”. Basically instead of putting an ear bud in or covering your ears with headphones, these sit right outside the ear and use mini vibrations to send the music through your cheek bones.

The cool thing about this is that it leaves your ears open to hear your surroundings
while still enjoying your music. This means a safer run and no more bouncing headphones!

The headphones work over Bluetooth which means no more swinging cords or accidentally
ripping your headphones out mid run. Setting them up is super easy, just hold the power
button for a few seconds to enter into pairing mode, then select your Aftershokz headphones
in the Bluetooth preferences on your phone and you are ready to go! The Titanium charge over
USB and the battery lasts up to 6 hours of continuous play. They also include a microphone so
you are able to take phone calls as well as use talk to text or Siri features.

After running with them for a week, I can say that they are great! Coming from someone who
usually doesn’t run with music, it brought a whole new level of enjoyment to my runs
(especially the longer ones...). Now I use them almost everyday, walking around the city, while I
am working at a coffee shop and of course on ALL my runs. Sometimes I even forget I am
wearing them! They are extremely comfortable since they sit outside your ears so you can jam
with them all day. As long as you have a killer playlist, these headphones might help you get
your next PR!
