Join us for a Run to Yoga! The run starts at 6PM followed by Yoga for Runners at 6:30PM in our University City shop.

The one-hour, all-levels yoga class is great for runners and fitness enthusiasts looking to switch up their regular routine. Practicing yoga after a run, when your muscles are warm and soft, will make you feel a whole lot better the next day. Post run yoga can help prevent injuries by improving the health and strength of muscles.

The Narberth Take A Breather Run & Walk will be joining us to share more about their upcoming event in April!

As always, bring your own mat and plan to arrive a few minutes early for yoga. Gear check is available if you're joining the run.

More about Narberth Take A Breather Run & Walk:

In 1995 the Narberth Run set off as a celebration of the Narberth Borough’s Centennial. The following year, two families, each deeply affected by the chronic disease, cystic fibrosis, along with their Narberth community, decided to continue the run and use the proceeds to support wishes for children battling cystic fibrosis. That 1996 run allowed an 11 year-old boy with CF and his family to travel to Disney World for the first time.

Now, 24 years later, the run continues in support of the Take A Breather Foundation, an outgrowth of the Narberth Run, with the mission to provide wishes, or “breathers,” to children and adults battling cystic fibrosis. It is our hope that “breather” recipients will be able to make magical memories that can strengthen and rejuvenate their spirits in their fight against CF.

Take A Breather Foundation has provided over 200 “breathers” for children and adults with cystic fibrosis who have received care in Philadelphia area hospitals including the Cystic Fibrosis Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Adult CF Care Program at the University of Pennsylvania, Cystic Fibrosis Center at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, Drexel University College of Medicine Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program, and others.

Foot injuries in runners are pretty common. Learn more about the causes, prevention methods and treatment of some of the most common foot injuries in runners on Wednesday, April 3rd at 7PM!

Dr. Elena Wellens, D.P.M., from the Rothman Institute will be joining us after our Wednesday night group run at 6PM. Dr. Wellens will discuss some of the most common injuries runners might encounter, as well as how to avoid and treat them. Following her talk, we'll have a Q & A with Dr. Wellens.

Group Run at 6PM - optional and open to everyone, all paces!
Presentation at 7PM - open to everyone, even if you don't join the group run!

More about Dr. Wellens:

Dr. Wellens specializes in the non-operative treatment of complex foot and ankle disorders, trauma and sports medicine. She uses the most comprehensive methods for diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Wellens has a passion for treating athletic injuries, fractures and biomechanical disorders, and is active in podiatric research. She also serves as an assistant professor at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine.

Running through the winter is tough. It's cold out, the paths are covered in snow and ice, and the shorter hours of daylight force us to run in the dark. 

So, why get out of your warm bed to run in the winter? To put it simply, running in winter will make you a better runner. Oh, and let's not forget to mention the most important thing: It's more fun to run with friends! 

As the temperatures drop, our group runs are just heating up! Join our Winter Break Running Series and get ahead start on your training for the Blue Cross Broad Street Run and other spring races. Each Saturday in January we are meeting at 9AM in one of our shops:

1/5: PR Center City with the Sansom Street Donut Run!
1/12: PR University City
1/19: PR Glen Mills
1/26: PR Manayunk

Free Fitness Alert!

Join us on Sunday, January 6th for a free 40 - 45 minute class lead by EverybodyFights Philadelphia in our University City shop.
Wondering what type of workout is Everybody Fights? An interval-based class incorporating shadow boxing components and body weight exercises. Taught in rounds, the class will begin with an introduction to boxing technique followed by a full warm up. It's a 12 round class, alternating between shadow boxing and body weight rounds. The final round will include a flow cool down focused on mindfulness, meditation, and relaxation.
