Summer Challenge: Week 3

We love running. If we had to choose a workout to do we'd pick running 100% of the time, every time. We'd run everyday if we could.

We run this city.

We run this city.

A well rounded running routine doesn't just mean running all the time though. Cross training builds strength and flexibility in muscles that aren't used during running and can speed up your recovery while preventing injury (and boredom).

So, what exactly is cross training? For runners, cross training just means doing another type of physical activity or fitness workout other than running. A few of our favorite ways to cross train are swimming, cycling, strength training, yoga, and trying out bootcamps and fitness classes around the city.

How do you cross train? Post a photo on instagram showing us how you get your sweat on outside of running. We'll pick a winner for this week's prize (a PR gift card) on Friday afternoon. Don't forget to use the #runlocalphl and tag us @phillyrun!

In addition to our weekly and monthly group runs, we host FREE fitness and yoga classes from time to time. Check out our events calendar and follow us on facebook for upcoming workouts!
